The Journey
Body scan and conversation check-in. Tuning into what is present for you.
Guided meditative breath and body warm-up to get you connected and agile.
We will unlock different parts of the body you might not normally use to dance.
Using diverse songs we will experiment with expressing mood through movement.
Using the same song we will experiment with dancing to the beat/rhythm and then to lyrics/melody. This will expand your perception of the movements and styles available to you.
We will pay attention to different emotion’s and blocks that come up during this experience. Shame, stiffness, tension will not be glossed. We will treat them as important information guiding us where we can go deeper into the practice and release the energetics you no longer wish to experience when you dance.
Whether your edge is to get primal and gritty or fluid and sensual, we will find the edge and lean into it. We aren’t going against what is authentic to you but expanding your capacity to feel free in your body during radical expression.
This can be a vulnerable journey so I will create a gentle landing for you. As our heart rate slows we will maintain connected to it, noticing and embracing any emotions that have been stirred. I will guide you through an exercise to somatically anchor the new felt sense of freedom in your body.
There will time for us to chat after about your experience and if it would feel supportive to you I’d be happy to add an additional 15 minutes of integration time for you to write or draw about your experience. I’ll support you in leaning into poetic expression to create words and/or visuals as an artifact of our time together that helps you somatically remember.
